Goal |
Farmers in southern Tajikistan and GBAO have increased their resilience to food insecurity and external shocks affecting their livelihoods. |

Specific objectives |
· Convert 100 hectares of previously barren and uncultivated land into climate-smart orchards or vegetable farms; · Reduce cluster risks associated with monocultures and implement integrated pest management, which will lead to a 90% reduction in the use of synthetic pesticides. |

Results |
· Solar pumps have been installed, providing water to 94 hectares of newly developed land; · At least 90 hectares of orchards (with 36,000 fruit trees) and vegetable plantations have been established, which will generate income for over 2,000 people for many years; · For additional protection of the water intake system and pumping station, a stone gabion over 45 meters long was constructed along the entire length of the water intake; · To protect the garden and vegetable plot from stray animals, an electric solar-powered fence with a total enclosed perimeter of 1,711 meters was installed; · Drip irrigation systems have been installed over an area of 22.4 hectares; · 320 fruit trees imported from Germany, including apple, plum, cherry, sweet cherry, and pear trees, were distributed among farmers and planted in the project areas; · A series of training sessions on five agricultural topics was conducted for targeted and non-targeted beneficiaries, with an average attendance of 611 people. Forty-nine project participants received capacity-building training on system management, including the tariff system. · Three greenhouses with photovoltaic heating were constructed. |
