Project: Renewable energies and household energy efficiency for sustainable development in rural Tajikistan and Afghanistan

DURATION:              December 2014 – November 2016

TARGET AREA:       Temurmalik & Baljuvon districts.

PROJECT OBJECTIVE.

The general objective of this project is to reduce poverty and vulnerability by diminishing the consumption of natural resources and by stimulating local economic growth through the promotion and further development of appropriate and sustainable technologies. The activities are directed towards improving the livelihoods as a whole and focuses on household energy saving technologies as well as the utilization of renewable energy sources.

 PROJECT RESULT:

Ø 1811 participants of awareness raising campaign on Energy Efficiency (EE) technologies,

Ø 13 active women (field promoters) trained for promotion and installation of EE technologies,

Ø 107 demonstration models of EE technologies installed in social infrastructures and in household levels,

Ø 100 and more households + social infrastructures are benefitting from 3 Micro Hydropower Plant (10-20 kW) and 8 Pico Hydropower Plants,

Ø 170 hhouseholdss using Solar Systems in 51 project target villages,

Ø 29 businesses using photovoltaic systems (1-2kW),

Ø 7 solar pumping system for irrigation and drinking installed in Temurmalik, Baljuvon and Khovaling districts,

Ø 843 households established EE technologies such as:

            - improved cooking stove,                               - pressure cooker,                     - heat exchanger

            - low cost technology of house insulations        - high cost technology of house insulations,

Ø 65 masters trained for production of EE and Renewable Energy technologies,

Ø 12 active masters supported with tools and equipment.
